Questions and answers

Is this veterinary advice?

No. Unwoofled provides training education and tracking. It does not diagnose anything and does not replace a veterinarian. If your dog's behavior changes suddenly, see your veterinarian first, because pain and illness can cause behavior changes.

What if my dog has bitten someone?

Then please start with a professional, not an app. See a veterinarian first, then a qualified behavior professional. Unwoofled asks about bites, sudden changes, self-injury and young children at home, and it will not build a training plan until you confirm that a professional is involved. The quiz does the same: any "yes" shows where to find help instead of an exercise.

Does it record audio?

No. For alone time, the Listener runs on an old phone or laptop and detects barking, whining and howling on the device. Only short notes like "bark, 2:14 pm" are sent, never sound. Live view during an absence goes only to your own phone and is never recorded or stored. Adding a short clip to a session log is optional and off by default.

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone and Android. The app is not in the stores yet; the badges above say "coming soon" until it is. The Listener runs in the web browser of a second phone or a laptop.

Can I cancel?

Yes, in one tap. In the app, go to Settings, then "Manage or cancel subscription", and it opens your App Store or Google Play subscription page. We also email you 7 days before an annual plan renews. The quiz and the printable log are free and need no payment.

When does it launch?

We do not have a date to share yet. Leave your email in the quiz or on the printable-log page and we will email you when it is ready. You will be asked to confirm your email first.

How does the plan decide how far away to stay?

You start from the distance where your dog notices another dog (or person, bike or car) and stays calm. After every walk you log, the plan looks at your last sessions: three calm sessions in a row move you one small step closer or make the situation a little harder, one step at a time; a big reaction moves you back out and adds a rest day. The app explains each change. The steps follow published studies and specialist protocols; they are not reviewed for your individual dog by a professional.

What training methods does it use?

Reward-based methods only: keeping your dog under threshold, feeding when the trigger appears, Look At That, pattern games and planned U-turns. Every exercise is built on rewards and distance, so your dog learns that the trigger predicts good things.

How does alone-time training work?

Short practice absences that grow slowly. Each session starts with a few warm-ups well below the target, then one practice absence at the target, then a short one. Calm sessions raise the target a little; signs of stress lower it or pause practice for a day. A second phone, tablet or laptop can listen while you are out and tell you to go back in.

What is Point to measure?

A way to estimate distance on a walk: point the phone at where the other dog or person meets the ground and tap. The app shows the distance with an everyday comparison, such as "about two car lengths", and can put it into your walk log. It is a guide, not a safety margin. Nothing from the camera is saved or sent.

Can I share progress with my trainer or vet?

Yes. The app makes a report with your dog's profile, charts, the last 30 sessions and any safety flags, as a PDF or a read-only link that expires after 30 days. Your private notes are never included. Trainers can read more on the page for trainers.

Can my family use it for the same dog?

Yes. You can invite people in your household to the same dog, and one subscription covers the household. Each person can log walks and get alone-time alerts on their own phone.

How much does it cost?

Logging walks and alone time is free. The personal plan (today's distance and how it changes), the Listener, the coach, the weekly summary and the trainer report need a subscription: $9.99 per month with no free trial, or $59.99 per year with a 7-day free trial (US prices; the app shows the exact price before you subscribe). Cancel anytime in Settings in one tap.

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes, both in the app under Settings: export gives you a file with everything you logged, and delete removes your account and your dog's data. You can also delete your account from the website.
